Detesting war; I want to live in peace

Persian New Year is nearing, so the streets are filled with people shopping for new clothes, fruits and other delicious foods. They are reluctant to think about what is waiting for them in the coming year. Maybe next year everything will remain the same as today and yesterday... or maybe war, long queues (due of sanctions), the death of children (due to undernourishment caused by sanctions), and warning sirens (from missile attacks) are expecting us in the New Year.

I forgot that next year the World Cup is also waiting for us ;)

It will be very difficult for anyone to attack Iran. Britain doesn't want to, and Americans are tired of the Iraq situation and don't want a second problem that's bigger. Also, promoting war would not help people get elected to the US Congress or Senate later this year.
There will be lots of threats of war, but it's very, very unlikely that there will be real fighting.

Don't believe it, Yasser. The Senate and Congress do not get involved in authorization for War in the US until funding comes due, and by then we are in it up to our elbows. This is a decision for the President alone, and he isn't running for re-election. He is also the kind of guy who doesn't leave problems for the next guy. I expect Bush to push to have the Iran question settled, one way or another, before he leaves office in three years.
Also, don't believe the stories that the US military is "stretched thin" because of Iraq. There are six carrier battle groups basically unemployed.
Pray for cooler heads.

We must look at the new year as a time to reinvigorate our devotion to Islam. Only by the government taxing the rich and giving to the poor in Iran can we get the help from Allah to overcome our worries. See more on http://www.iranian-blog.com/redistributenow/

LOLLLLL! You're joking, right??!! It doesn't work - see. Any gov't. who redistributes wealth like that ends up sending the economy down the tubes. It happens EVERY damn time. Amazing that there are people who still believe it's a good idea.

There will not be war, but a military strike against nuclear facilities in Iran is highly likely. Either by Israel or by USA. I hope an agreement is reached before then, but a nuclear capable Iran is something the US or Israel will not allow (whether they are right or wrong in that belief, it still doesn't change the fact they will not allow it).

I commend you on your blog, as an American the freedom to express ones self is something I take for granted and find it so alien that there are places such as Iran that freedom of expression is so limited. I wish on you a better future than the one you have now.

Bush lacks the "political capital" let alone troop strength to open another theatre of engagement. All the talk of censorship and/or impeachment would surely become more than just talk. I do think that a precision strike is very likely (as another poster suggested). It will likely be from the Israelis but with some snippets of U.S. intelligence. All the same, though, I would also like to wish you a happy new year. Hopefully at some point in the future we (Americans, Europeans, Arabs, etc) will all get along peacefully. I think Iran would be a great place to go vacation if it weren't for the fear of being attacked.

We would get along peacefully just fine if certain people in the world weren't threatening to annihilate us.
