Who is the nuclear? Is she beautiful?

Yesterday for the first time I went to stadium for a soccer match, It was a good day with a lot of fun and excitement.
In stadium easily you heard insulting to others and I must confess it has a lot of fun when I called players or referee “stupid” (maybe I must go to a psychiatrist) ,others insulting too but their swears were what that maybe I never heard before .
What was interesting also for me was that these people (most of them between 15-30) that only healthy entertainment for them is watching soccer in stadiums whenever the match became boring start to shouting

Nuclear energy is our certain right.

“This slogan is a common slogan in today of Iran. Maybe it must be natural when a populist goverment run Iran.”

Anyway …

Poor folks! Once there were two nuclear energy plants in our state.

They were shut down many years ago because people didn't want the danger of radio activity near them.

In fact, I believe there hasn't been a new nuke plant in the US for 30 years.

First Russia had their catastrophe then we had 3-mile island. Don't the people of Iran remember those things?

The world is terrified in a way that we were not terrified by the US/Soviet nuclear competition.
We knew that the Soviets understood that if they launched a nuclear attack they could be assured that we would retaliate and our mutual destruction would be certain...MAD -' mutually assured destruction'kept the world safe from atomic wars for decades...
However, today the world is afraid that the rulers in Iran are willing to suffer destruction if only they could destroy the Great Satan , the USA. The way your president talks makes us fear that that he could very well throw a missile at us...
Iran is awash in petroleum - it doesnt need nuclear energy - the only reason, we speculate, that they want nuclear energy is to make a bomb to destroy Israel and the USA.
As a Jew and an American your president makes me shudder...

Yasser, I very much enjoy reading your blog. Thank you for your comment and opinion.

anonymous of February 20th, what makes you think that Iran's leadership wouldn't care about the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction?

It should be far from surprising that an ambitious country with substantial energy requirements should be considering the option of exploiting nuclear energy. The fact that at present those energy needs are being comfortably met by oil does not and should not mean that other, better, cleaner energy sources should not be developed. This of course has possible implications - environmental and, unfortunately, military. But our best defences against these lie, as they have done throughout the nuclear age, in human nature and international goodwill.

The more serious issues, in my view, are the safety and security of nuclear facilities, and of the systems used to dispose of the radioactive waste.

to anonymous of UK February 21st:

your question to anonymous of feb20
" what makes you think that Iran's leadership wouldn't care about the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction?" is answered below:

the president of iran said recently that in a nuclear war with israel iran might suffer much damage, but israel would be wiped off the map...iran has the population and land mass to survive nuclear battle (albeit at the cost of terrible suffering to its people) and israel does not.
And in the event of a nuclear attack on israel do you really think the USA would sit idly by?
of course the mullahs know all of this but apparently the disadvantages of nuclear destruction would be outweighed by the joy of totally destroying israel and gravely wounding the Great Satan -the USA -

Hitler revealed his plans for a new world order years before he ascended to power - he told the truth in 'Mein Kampf'
I believe Ahmadijenab - as Hitler did - now speaks the truth about his plans...
and for that reason you can be certain that the USA will launch air strikes against nuclear development facilities in iran much sooner that you would expect.and the world will breathe easier..

Yasser, sir, I fear these postings may be scaring you to death. I would however like to make one further reply:
To Anonymous of Febrary 24th:
Your answer implies (perhaps inadvertently) that in the (I remain convinced) highly unlikely event of any nuclear weapons attack from Iran on Israel, a nuclear retaliation against Iran would come from Israel only. I would think that highly unlikely. Strategy for nuclear confrontation is, I'm sure you would agree, a thoroughly sickening topic, but for the sake of argument and IN PURELY HYPOTHETICAL TERMS, the main deterrent against any nuclear strike on Israel would not be retaliation from Israel (which quite probably would be destroyed) but from the vast nuclear and conventional batteries of America. Whatever President Ahmadinajad might threaten to do, and whatever militants from across the Middle East might like him to do, his first priority has to be the safety of his own state. Use of (currently non-existent) Iranian nuclear weapons against Israel would certainly guarantee the overthrow of the current regime in Iran (whether its successor would be any less hostile to America remains doubtful), and it is highly unlikely that the current Iranian government
would consider themselves to be no more than highly decorated suicide bombers. So long as America has nukes, the Islamic Republic of Iran cannot afford to nuke Israel (again, there are currently no nukes in Iran, and it is not certain that there is a nuclear weapons programme in Iran). To consider your analogy (not one that I believe is useful, but never mind), if Hitler had found himself in a situation where an attack on his targets would have guaranteed the swift and imminent destruction of Germany, then he would have been in exactly the same bind.
This leaves the remaining question of international reaction to a potential threat. This is a different issue, and one which I'm sure all of us dearly hope will be handled delicately and without hostile actions.

Please can we change the subject? I' m starting to feel ill. Please, please, please, have a nice day.
